Droid Kidnapped, Held for Ransom

September 4, 2006

Last week was a slow week at the helpdesk. We had a lot of time for fun shenanigans. Like any other geeks, we all have various dorky stuff at our desks. Legos, foam balls, and of course, star wars collectibles. So why not have fun messing with the guy that takes pride in them?

If you ever want to see this droid alive again, show up ALONE at the Mos Eisley Cantina tonight. NO Troopers!!! And if I even think there’s a bounty hunter within 10 parsecs, the droid is “dead like Lando” oh yeah, bring lots of credits. Here’s your proof of life:

and no, i’m not hiding him in your top left desk drawer, so don’t bother looking there.

MySpace Blog Down

Another portion of MySpace is down this morning. This time it’s the blog section. Big surprise.

A Month After the Blackout, MySpace Still Has Problems

August 25, 2006

MySpace was experiencing more problems yet again this morning. Users that logged in experienced the classic error message “Sorry! an unexpected error has occurred. This error has been forwarded to MySpace’s technical group.” This message is all too familiar to MySpace users lately. The message also appeared when users tried to send messages, add friends or even view the Contact MySpace page.

It is suspected that MySpace constantly needs to disable many features and rework pages as they find out users have hacked it or have found a way to abuse the site. Last month MySpace was forced to support only the latest version of Adobe Flash, as users found a way to redirect pages to a page that detailing how the United States government was behind the 9/11 attacks using the older version. They also suffered an outage at their Equinix data center that caused the entire site to go blank for many users.

The result after all these problems is just a patchwork of constantly modified pages and the problem seems to be getting worse and worse. How much longer before people start getting tired of it?

Throughout this week we’ve also seen a plethora of other problems. Users have reported errors when they are browsing profiles and the Bulletin Board and Schools section were taken down for maintenance in the middle of the day. This can’t be normal scheduled maintenance; something has to be going wrong when this happens.
